Hand designed and printed
The process starts with spending time immersing in nature where I do an assessment of the fauna and flora around me. Observing every detail, pattern and movement
I create a log of the various species I see that are common to the area and do sketches of the patterns, shapes and textures.
I then transfer the prints to wooden blocks to do engravings of the patterns. Or I print directly from the botanicals if it proved to be a good stand alone stencil like palm leaves or corals.
All textiles are prewashed.
I use old hand operated etching press - therefore each piece is unique.
When I am doing expeditions I use my hand roller to press the stencils.
